How to play Cutle
Cutle is a geometry cutting game. Draw one straight line through a shape and try to divide its area into equal halves. This unlimited practice game generates its own convex shapes, so there is always another cut to try.
Draw a line through the shape
On a phone or tablet, drag a finger across the board. On desktop, drag the mouse. The line extends infinitely in both directions, so you do not need to start outside the shape. A tap, a line along an edge, or a line that misses the shape does not count.
Use the keyboard if you prefer
Focus the angle or offset slider, then use the arrow keys to move it. Select Cut the shape to submit that line. Each valid cut gives the precise percentage of the original area on either side.
Aim for the 48–52% range
A cut wins when each piece has between 48% and 52% of the area, inclusive. The decision uses the full calculation, not the rounded percentage shown on screen. Your first valid cut sets the first-cut score; later cuts can improve the best score.
Practice or play the daily shape
Easy generates triangles and rectangles, medium generates five- or six-sided shapes, and hard generates seven- or eight-sided shapes. The daily shape uses an independent UTC seed and stays the same for that date.
Daily puzzles and saved progress
Daily puzzles reset at midnight UTC and use this site’s independent version-one schedule. Switching modes keeps your current daily and practice progress separately. The game checks the UTC date while open and on returning to the page. Changing difficulty keeps a started puzzle and applies to the next puzzle. Completed daily results count once per date. Local records cover the last 50 finished puzzles and are not synced between devices.
Keyboard and touch
Drag directly on the shape with a finger or pointer. For keyboard play, use the two labeled sliders and Cut the shape. A cancelled gesture or missed cut does not use an attempt.
