How to play Cutle

Cutle is a geometry cutting game. Draw one straight line through a shape and try to divide its area into equal halves. This unlimited practice game generates its own convex shapes, so there is always another cut to try.

  1. Draw a line through the shape. On a phone or tablet, drag a finger across the board.
  2. Use the keyboard if you prefer. Focus the angle or offset slider, then use the arrow keys to move it.
  3. Aim for the 48–52% range. A cut wins when each piece has between 48% and 52% of the area, inclusive.
  4. Practice or play the daily shape. Easy generates triangles and rectangles, medium generates five- or six-sided shapes, and hard generates seven- or eight-sided shapes.

What counts as a win in Cutle?

Both pieces must be within 48% and 52% of the original shape. The percentages are calculated from polygon area.

Can I play Cutle unlimited?

Yes. Select Next shape to generate another practice puzzle. Difficulty changes the number and type of vertices.

Does a missed cut use my first attempt?

No. A line must split the shape into two pieces with positive area. Zero-length gestures and missed shapes do not count.

Why show first cut and best cut separately?

Your first cut captures the initial estimate. The best cut shows how feedback helps you improve on the same shape.
